2024 PCVA Conference – Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in St. John’s

It’s almost that time again! Current boating season in Canada is starting to wind down and we all thinking about what to do in the “off” season.

PCVA’s annual conference is taking place this fall in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The conference will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland from November 11 to 14. Why not consider taking some of your staff or your family…especially if you’ve never been to “The Rock” before.

We are currently working on the agenda for the conference, but below is a basic breakdown for what is going to happen.

November 11

• Bus tour of St. John‘s: pick up and drop off at the hotel; 2pm to 5pm. Everyone can come… this is a paid excursion and has limited space. This three-hour Combination Tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with the downtown St. John’s area and to visit the area’s top attractions including Cape Spear, Petty Harbour, Cabot Tower, Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, and the colorful “Jellybean Row” houses.
• Opening night reception in the beautiful Court Garden at the Sheraton Hotel from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A lovely way to ease yourself into the conference. The Monday evening welcome reception includes an open invitation to local passenger & commercial vessel operators in and around the St. John’s area so you’ll see some new and familiar faces. Come and join us for a few bevvies and some hors d’oeuvres.
• Registration begins at 5:15pm. Our lovely executive administrator Erica will be there to greet you and provide you with your conference package.

November 12

• Meetings from 9am to 5:00pm… with topics based on what our members have requested. To be announced soon.
• Breakfast at 8am, and lunch at noon, two coffee breaks. All included.
• In the evening our annual “banquet”… will take place at a fun pub on St. John’s famous George Street… more details to come. This is included, however, a companion ticket may be purchased for friends and/or family. Lots of fun! You might even get “screeched” in!

November 13

• Meetings from 9am to 5:00pm….with topics based on what our members have requested. To be announced soon.
• Breakfast at 8am, and lunch at noon, two coffee breaks. All included.
• Our annual AGM, and election for two board positions. Would you like to be on the board and help to shape our association’s future? Email me if the answer is yes!
• In the evening… the time is yours to do what you please.

November 14

• Meetings from 9am to 12:pm… with topics based on what our members have requested. To be announced soon.
• Breakfast at 8am, and a coffee break included.
• Post-Conference – Tour 1pm – 3:30pm – Liferaft Facility – DSS Protection (NL) Inc., Mount Pearl, Newfoundland (complimentary)
• We will miss you when you go!

Important things to note:

• Your conference fee includes the Monday evening Welcome Reception, three (3) days of meetings, three (3) breakfasts, two (2) lunches and five (5) coffee breaks
• The Tuesday evening Banquet is also included and companion tickets may be purchased.
• The tour of St. John’s is an extra, and has limited space….so book early! Everyone is welcome. Got your kids with you? Bring them along.
• Porter, Air Canada, and West Jet, all fly into St. John’s and there are many direct flights depending on where you are originating.

Book your group rate for the Passenger & Commercial Vessel Association 2024 conference

The PCVA group rates are $164.00 + taxes, single or double occupancy, over the official nights of the conference: November 11, 2024 and up to and including the night of November 13. The group rate is also available up to three (3) days pre/post the conference dates (based on availability). Guests wishing to book dates outside of the contracted dates, are to contact the reservations department directly for assistance with their booking via email at 1-888-870-3033 or through e-mail at reservations@sheratonhotelnewfoundland.com

Reservations must be received on or before Friday, October 14, 2024, (the official “cut-off date”). Even if you have not as yet registered for the conference, we encourage you to book your hotel room. If for any reason you feel you may need to cancel it, you have 48 hours before check-in to cancel.

If you are planning to stay in St. John’s for a few extra days, or even if only for the PCVA 2024 Conference, PLEASE book early!
